About the Author
Ann Cleeves is the author behind ITV's VERA and BBC One's SHETLAND. She has written over twenty-five novels, and is the creator of detectives Vera Stanhope and Jimmy Perez -- characters loved both on screen and in print. Her books have now sold over 1 million copies worldwide. Ann worked as a probation officer, bird observatory cook and auxiliary coastguard before she started writing. She is a member of 'Murder Squad', working with other British northern writers to promote crime fiction. In 2006 Ann was awarded the Duncan Lawrie Dagger (CWA Gold Dagger) for Best Crime Novel, for Raven Black, the first book in her Shetland series. About the Author
Roy R. Craig, Jr. is the John J. McKetta Energy Professor in Engineering in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at The University of Texas at Austin. He received his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Oklahoma, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Since 1961 he has been on the faculty of The University of Texas at Austin. His industrial experience has been with the U.S. Naval Civil Engineering Laboratory, the Boeing Company. Lockhead Palo Alto Research Laboratory, Exxon Production Research Corporation, NASA, and IBM.
