500 Days of Summer Review

A couple of weeks ago I was fortune enough to attend a screener for the upcoming film, 500 Days of Summer. From the moment I watched the trailer and heard "Sweet Disposition" by The Temper Trap, I fell in love. I was more excited about this film than any other film coming out this summer and I was not disappointed.
500 Days of Summer reminds one of what it is to be human. The story is universal. It is about love, loss, redemption and fate. It will remind you what it means to be human and what it was like to be young. The events in the movie will speak to anyone who has loved and had their heartbroken. Without giving away too much, 500 Days is about Tom Hanson's (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) journey of love and loss with Summer Finn (played by Zooey Deschanel). Both Gordon-Levitt and Deschanel give excellent performances and left me enchanted. Everything was real. Their love, their fears, and their tears. Everything was real.
Though this film is far from being the best movie ever made, it is one of the best movies of this summer (tied with UP) so go out and see it when it comes out July 17th instead of watching that abomination of a film, Transformers 2: Revenge of Michael Bay/Return of Megan Fox.*
*This was the worst film I've seen in a while. I can't believe I actually WAITED IN LINE opening night to watch it. Those who know me know how much I hate waiting in lines. The action was good but I was so overwhelmed by all the flying debris that I really didn't give a crap about anyone who died except Optimus. I hated this more than Spiderman 3. Yes, I said it.

I had forgotten just how much I missed my old neighborhood. Found this cute clothing boutique named after my friend.

Don't get me wrong, Can Jam 2009 was a blast and the vendors and people there were very nice, for the most part. One thing that was brought to my attention was the fact that girls are ostracized. I went with my good friend Vivian who has been into audio gear since she was little. Her dad is an audiophile and his influence has rubbed off on his daughter. Whenever we walked into a room, we would get stares from some of the Head-fi.org members that were there for the meet. At times Vivian became uncomfortable and asked to go.
This is not to say that the organizers of the event took part in this. Quite the contrary, in fact.
The organizers of the event and the vendors there were all very respectable and helpful. What I do not understand is why there is such shock that there was a girl, other than a rep for a company, at the meet for pleasure and not work. Girls enjoy music too.Other than that, we got to try some amazing stuff and will never forget this experience. I want to partake in next year's meet but please let there be more than one girl there the next time. Thanks to the organizers at Head-fi for such a successful event.

We just got the LaCie itsaKeys in at work the other day and I just had to buy one. There's just something cool about carrying a flash drive with me at all time. I already loaded it up with Portable Apps so that I can have my applications with me at all times. I've had the itsaKey for the last two days and it seems to be holding up alright though there are a few scratches. With the way I treat my keys, I'll be surprised if the logo can stay on the flash drive for more than a month. We'll see when the time comes.
Being the geek that I am, I also bench marked the flash drive against my SanDisk Cruzer and my PNY flash drive and the LaCie made it out on top though not by much. The loser was the PNY drive with a pitifully slow read speed.

The best part? It only costs $23.95 for an 8GB model.
